CIRCUIT BREAKERS

Circuit breakers are the most used piece of equipment in the electrical switchgear apparatus lineup. They are a mechanical switching device carrying the current that provides power. They have the ability and duty to interrupt current flow when called upon. Often, the breakers are installed, turn on, expected to operate and all but forgotten

But as with all mechanical devices, planned maintenance along with preventive testing is a must to keep equipment operational. The breaker, failing to perform as set when called upon, can turn a minor inconvenience to a serious loss of property, loss of production time, lost revenue and even much worse.

Substation Oil & SF6 Breakers

Utilities Plus Energy Services (UPES) has the experienced personnel and modern equipment to provide the necessary services. Regardless of the system class or voltage system, UPES has the knowledge, training and hands-on experience to perform professionally.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE - Most circuit breakers fail due to dirt, corrosion and fatigued parts. Specific maintenance programs have been developed. UPES is especially vigilant in providing detailed care by following standard proscribed procedures and learned techniques.

TESTING - Prescribed electrical tests are performed on site to determine operational condition of equipment. Also, protective relay testing and calibration is performed for medium voltage systems as well as servicing their corresponding breaker(s).

REPAIRS & REFURBISHMENT - When possible, UPES performs minor repairs on site as equipment is tested to save customers future inconvenience and dollars. When more extensive repairs are needed, breakers are brought into our shop to take advantage of a full array of equipment and parts. All breakers are fully disassembled, cleaned, refurbished and brought up to factory specifications. Some breakers are upgraded with new solid state trip units. Some are upgraded to vacuum operation. Some are replaced with new vacuum or upgraded retrofit units.
